Lim being hunted, P6.8-B shabu probe on: SAP Go

MANILA — Addressing statements from the camp of Vice President Leni Robredo, Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence Go on Friday said the government is investigating the PHP6.8-billion shabu smuggling and tracking down alleged drug lord Peter Lim.

Barry Gutierrez, Vice President Robredo’s legal adviser, earlier challenged President Rodrigo Duterte to investigate the PHP6.8-billion worth of shabu discovered in Cavite and arrest Lim instead of vilifying Robredo.

This, after Duterte stood by his position that Naga is a “hotbed” of shabu and accused Robredo’s brother-in-law of being involved in illegal drugs.

Iniimbestigahan naman, meron lang tayong ongoing parallel investigation ang NBI (National Bureau of Investigation) tungkol diyan (We are investigating the matter. We have an ongong parallel investigation by the NBI on that),” he said, referring to the entry of PHP6.8-billion shabu.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) seized four empty magnetic lifters in a warehouse in Cavite, which allegedly contained a massive bulk of the illegal drug.

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra has already ordered the NBI to conduct an investigation on the drug smuggling case.

Alam niyo namang matagal nang nagtatago ‘yan, matagal na ring hinahanap ‘yan (You know that he is in hiding for a long time. And for a long time, authorities are looking for him).”

The fugitive businessman and alleged drug lord remains at large after the Makati City Regional Trial Court (RTC) issued an arrest warrant against him and several others in connection with drug cases filed by the Philippine National Police. (Joyce Ann L. Rocamora/PNA)
