As of the last day of filing for certificate of candidacy (COC) with the Commission on Elections (Comelec), a total of 29 individuals have submitted their COC for the position of vice president.
Among those running for vice president are Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go, Senate President Vicente Sotto III, and Dr. Willie Ong.
The following individuals have filed their COCs for the vice presidency as of Oct. 8, 2021:
Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan
Party: Liberal Party
Pangilinan will continue to support Filipino farmers and fishermen. He will address the problem of hunger and the reopening of the country’s economy. He dreams of a country where everyone has a job and is earning; where everyone is vaccinated; where everyone is safe from sickness and has a home; where everyone can finish their studies.
Vicente Sotto III
Party: Nationalist People’s Coalition
Sotto says this is the last chance to save the future generation. He believes that a unified country can succeed. He will not stop fighting for the country. Sotto will push for budget reform and balance, bring money to the people, and enhance the fight against illegal drugs.
Willie Ong
Party: Aksyon Demokratiko
Ong will focus on the economy, food, nutrition, and job creation.
Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go
Party: PDP-Laban (Cusi wing)
Go has decided to run for vice president to continue and add onto President Duterte’s programs. He will fight against illegal drugs, corruption, and criminality. He aspires for normal life to return and to help Filipinos rise from difficulties and challenges.
Jose “Lito” Atienza Jr.
PDP-Laban (Pacquiao wing)-Promdi-PCM Alliance
Atienza will tackle corruption, the reason why our country remains “poor.” He will “aggressively” help support his running mate, Sen. Manny Pacquiao.
Rey Anthony Bereber
Party: Independent
Bereber wishes to share solutions to job production. He says customs tax should be removed or lessened. He wishes to maintain peace and order.
Arlene Josephine Butay
Party: Independent
Butay is for the proper implementation and proper authoring of laws and programs, projects, and activities. She wishes for fair and democratic change.
Raquel Castillo
Party: Partido Lakas ng Masa
Castillo filed her COC on Oct. 8. She has yet to share her advocacy.
Rizalito David
Party: Democratic Party of the Philippines
David says that cynicism and amorality are some of the country’s main problems. He says the country needs leaders with discernment; says the people’s trust in the government must be restored.
Benedicto Jose
Party: Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan
Jose filed his COC on Oct. 8. He has yet to share his advocacy.
Emmanuel Lopez
Party: Labor Party Philippines
Lopez’s goal is to build a modern, progressive, egalitarian society. He will strive to advance national development and promote economic activity and proficiency. He will generate more employment and livelihood and opportunities.
Nerissa Navarro
Party: Kilusang Bagong Lipunan
Navarro filed her COC on Oct. 8. She has yet to share her advocacy.
Diego Palomares Jr.
Party: Independent
Palomares filed his COC during the last day of filing and has yet to share his advocacy.
Abdullatief Pumbaya
Party: Independent
Pumbaya filed his COC during the last day of filing and has yet to share his advocacy.
Elpidio Rosales Jr.
Party: Maharlika People’s Party
Rosales filed his COC during the last day of filing and has yet to share his advocacy.
Joel Sison
Party: Kilusang Bagong Lipunan
The Comelec said Sison filed his COC on the last day of filing on Oct. 8 through a representative.
Lyle Fernando Uy
Party: Lakas-CMD
Uy filed his candidacy in tandem with Anna Capella Velasco on Oct. 8. A report from ABS-CBN on Lakas-CMD said the two are just “placeholders.”
Bienvenido Lorque
Party: KDP
Retired chief marine engineer Lorque filed his COC on Oct. 7. He said he has long been advocating for the reform of maritime education training and certification, and that all unused lands should be allotted to farmers.
Leandro Verceles Jr.
Party: Independent
Former Catanduanes Congressman and Governor Verceles said in a local radio interview that there is a better way to solve the pandemic through addressing vaccination hesitancy by giving incentives.
Aeric Bernardino
Party: Independent
He said in his speech that among his advocacies are multi-story projects for the poor and construction of rail systems in Davao and Cebu.
Nathaniel Jayoma
Party: Independent
Jayoma says he wants corruption to stop in the country, including the faking of documents by local governments.
Ferdinand Lagundino
Party: Independent
The vice presidential aspirant said in an interview shared in social media that he seeks to renew a backup system of gold in the country.
Lourdes Tolentino
Party: Independent
A COC was filed on Oct. 7 for Tolentino.
Wilson Amad
Party: Independent
Brother Amad said in his speech he is “a compassionate and loving disciple of Christ” and that he will “bring in politics the value of the Gospel.”
Melodino Villanueva
Party: Independent
Villanueva filed his COC on Oct 5, where he said that he will accept whether he will win or lose in the upcoming elections.
Princess Sunshine Amirah Magdangal
Party: Philippine Green Republican Party
Magdangal filed her COC on Oct. 4 with running mate Leo Cadion who pointed out that only a few families are running the country.
Carlos Serapio
Party: Katipunan ng Kamalayang Kayumanggi
Serapio is running with former senatorial election bet Faisal Mangondato.
Rhona David
Party: Independent
David filed her COC on Oct. 1 where she showed a photo of an individual allegedly killed under the current war against illegal drugs.
Alexander Lague
Party: Philippine Green Republican Party
Lague said he will stop poverty and corruption, and brought up the conversion of human urine into fertilizers or perfume.
