LIST: Maynilad areas to experience daily water service interruptions beginning July 12

NECESSITY. A sidewalk shop sells heavy-duty plastic drums, pails and other containers, usually for storing water, in Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City on Thursday (June 29, 2023). They will be needed when the National Water Resources Board decreases the 50 cubic meters per second allocation for Maynilad and Manila Water once the water level of Angat Dam drops below the critical level of 180 meters, resulting in more supply interruption. At least 3.5 million customers of Maynilad Water Services, Inc. will experience daily water service interruption beginning Wednesday, July 12, as water level in Angat Dam continues to fall below its minimum operating level.

The indefinite interruption that will last from nine to 11 hours daily will cover portions of Manila, Quezon City, Caloocan City, Malabon City, Navotas City, and Valenzuela City.

Maynilad attributed its service disruptions to the reduction of raw water allocation for Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) from 50 cubic meters per second (CMS) to 48 CMS.

“The allocation was lowered in an effort to preserve water in Angat Dam, given the possible worsening effects of El Niño in the coming months,” Maynilad explained on Monday, July 10.

“However, this also means that Maynilad will get less supply than it needs to sustain normal service levels,” it assured.

Below is the list of affected areas and schedule of service interruption:
