Locally developed test kits to be used starting Monday

The Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary and Officer-In-Charge of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Eric Domingo said that the test kits for Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) developed by the University of the Philippines National Institute for Health (UP-NIH) can be used starting Monday.

The test kit can identify samples for COVID-19 in the span of 2 hours. It is faster compared to the test kits of the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) which detects the virus in a 24 hour.time period.

The kits can take 1,000 tests and have been pre-qualified by the World Health Organization (WHO).
