Lower House under lockdown

The House of Representatives announced Thursday that it will undergo a 4-day lockdown “in view of the alarming increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila.”

The lockdown started today, March 18 2021, until March 21, 2021.

“Everyone is enjoined to stay at home during the lockdown not just to protect ourselves, but also to help arrest the spread of the virus,” the House issued in a statement.

The Lower Chamber will continue its public hearings via virtual setup by using Zoom and live streaming platforms during the four-day lockdown.

House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco maintained this is a “precautionary measure to protect the health and safety of House members and employees.”

Velasco also appealed to the public to continue observing public health precautions against the deadly disease.

“Now, more than ever, it is important to continue to maintain proper physical distancing, and practice good hygiene, as well as wear face mask and face shield,” Velasco emphasized.

In a text message to PTV News, House Secretary General Mark LLandro Mendoza confirmed that based on the latest tally, COVID-19 active cases at the House of Representatives reached 33 with 3 new recoveries.- Daniel Manalastas
