Commuters will need to shell out more coins after the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) granted the provisional P1.00-fare hike requests of jeepney operators effective October 8 amid rising fuel costs.

The adjustment will bring the minimum fare to P13.00 for traditional jeepneys and P15.00 for modern units starting Oct. 8.

Teofilo Guadiz III said.

Operators also requested for a P5.00-hike for the first four kilometers and P1.00 for each succeeding kilometer.

The LTFRB reminded operators and commuters that the hike will take effect on the set date while evaluation is ongoing for the petition.
