LTO-Zamboanga sets release of new plates on July 5

ZAMBOANGA CITY–The Land Transportation Office (LTO) will start releasing new vehicle registration plates on July 5 in the Zamboanga Peninsula.

Lawyer Aminola Abaton, LTO regional director, on Monday told the Philippine News Agency that his office received 1,121 pairs of new license plate numbers on June 19 from the LTO-central office.

Abaton said the release of the vehicle plates will be held simultaneously with all the agencies’ offices in other parts of the country. He added that the new vehicle plates are for the July 2016 backlog of his office.

He said vehicle owners can claim their new plates at the LTO-Ecozone office or through their car dealers.

“This is the first shipment. Other (shipment) will follow,” he said.

He said they intend to post the names of owners of vehicles, whose new plates have arrived, in the LTO website for proper guidance.

He said the new plate number will start with letter J, which is the prefix for Region 9.

Meanwhile, he disclosed that they still have a backlog of 25,000 plate numbers in the region. (R. G. Antonet Go/PNA)
