Luzon grid remains ‘intact’ after 7.3-magnitude tremor –NGCP

By Gabriela Baron

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) assured the public that the Luzon grid remains “intact” following the 7.3-magnitude tremor that rattled Abra Wednesday morning, July 27.

“Power transmission services of NGCP remain normal despite the 7.3 magnitude earthquake which occurred in Lagangilang, Abra at 8:43 [a.m.] today,” NGCP said in an advisory.

However, NGCP noted “a rise in frequency” in the Luzon grid, indicating load tripping.

NGCP said the quake caused power interruption and affected the franchise area of La Union Electric Cooperative (LUELCO).

Power interruptions were experienced in parts of Pangasinan, Benguet, Tarlac, and Abra.

“Lines and facilities serving the National Capital Region are normal and intact,” NGCP said.
