Magalong highlights use of technology in contact tracing

Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong has emphasized the importance of technology in times of pandemic in his first appearance at the contact tracing training of AFP, PNP, and medical frontline workers in Cebu.

Magalong said technology plays an important role in contact tracing. Contact tracers only need to embrace it to easily determine how to utilize it.

“The only way to process all these information and to help you analyze it, that’s what we call data analytics, is the use of technology to simplify the process. So that when the output comes out, you can easily analyze it and apply it,” Magalong explained.

Magalong cited as an example the situation in MRT and LRT in Manila where employees were infected by COVID-19. He suggested that it is better to use smartphones or cards in paying fares to prevent transmission.

Aside from technology, the mayor pointed out that an efficient leader is important to effectively implement a system. He also encouraged contact tracers to share what they have learned from the training. – Report from John Aroa
