Magnolia sends playoff vs Ginebra to rubber match

MANILA — Magnolia led from wire to wire to beat Ginebra, 106-77, in Game 2 of the PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinals at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on Monday night.

The Hotshots opened the game on an 11-0 run and never looked back, even bringing their lead up to 31 points in the fourth quarter.

Ian Sangalang posted 21 points, nine rebounds, and one steal for Magnolia, which tied their best-of-three series at one win apiece, forcing a Game 3 on Wednesday night back at the said venue.

Robbie Herndon added 18 points, five rebounds, and one assist, while Jio Jalalon chipped in 17 points, five rebounds, six assists, and five steals.

Sol Mercado was the lone Ginebra player in double figures scoring-wise with 13 markers alongside six rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block.

Ginebra won the quarterfinals series’ opener, 86-75, last Saturday.
