Makati blasts Mandaluyong, 79-63

MANILA — Makati Skyscrapers put up a strong finish to maul Mandaluyong El Tigre, 79-63, in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Datu Cup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City on Tuesday night.

The Skyscrapers ended the third quarter with a 11-2 run, before stretching their lead to as high as 23 late in the fourth to pull away from the El Tigre.

Jeckster Apinan made 22 points, four rebounds, four assists, and four steals off the bench for Makati, which is now 1.5 games behind Bataan at the top of the Northern Division standings.

Ced Ablaza added 12 points, two rebounds, two assists, and one steal.

Jojo Cunanan made 14 points, four rebounds, and two assists for Mandaluyong, which fell to a tie with Navotas for sixth place in the Northern Division.
