Malabon Mayor LenLen Oreta tests positive for COVID-19

Malabon City Mayor Antolin “LenLen” Oreta announced today that he tested positive for COVID-19 after taking a swab test as part of a contact tracing procedure.

But he stressed that he is asymptomatic and will be working from his home in the coming days.

He urged the public to strictly observe health protocols being implemented by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) to stop the spread of the deadly virus.

“On behalf of the city, we would continue to ensure that we bring down the cases ng COVID dito sa ating siyudad (of COVID here in our city),” Mayor Oreta said

Earlier, the city imposed a liquor ban from March 15 to April 3.

Aside from this, the local government also temporarily suspend the operations of swimming pools, resorts, gyms and internet shops as these places could be a source of the virus transmission.

Small retail stores such or sari-sari (variety) stores are closed during curfew hours while delivery services are allowed only for 24-hour food stores.

Corresponding penalties will be imposed on violators. ₱1,000; ₱2,000 and ₱5,000 for the first, second and third offense respectively.– Rod Lagusad
