Malacañang: No ‘special treatment’ for Anti-Terrorism Bill

According to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, the Anti-Terrorism Bill is going through the right process before being signed or vetoed by the President.

Secretary Harry Roque disclosed that the bill is currently being studied. However, since it is certified as urgent, there is the possibility of the President immediately signing the Anti-Terrorism Bill.

“Kasi cinertify as urgent naman po ng Presidente ‘yan. Kung hindi pa naman po nagbabago ‘yung probisyon ng panukalang batas na ‘yan, doon sa bill na cinertify as urgent ng Presidente, wala pong dahilan para i-veto niya. Ang tinitingnan lang po ngayon ng Office of the Executive Secretary at ng DOJ- bagama’t tapos na ‘yung opinyon ni Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo-ay kung mayroon talagang mga probisyon na lalabag sa ating Saligang Batas. At iyan naman po ay standard. (The President has certified it as urgent. If the provision of the proposed law has not changed as compared to the bill he certified as urgent, there is no reason for the President to veto it.
