Malacañang hopes COVID-19 vaccine roadmap to be completed, approved before 2020 ends

Malacañang is hoping that the various government responses on the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine roadmap will be completed and approved before the end of 2020.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque has shared in his press briefing that the extension of the vaccine panel of experts and thorough study of the vaccine to be used in other countries must be finished from November to December.

He added that from January to March, the procurement process, production, shipment, and storage must be done as well as the early planning on distribution and deployment of the COVID-19 vaccine.

“Ang pinakamahalaga siyempre po ay kaligtasan or safety; sumusunod ang bisa or efficacy; pangatlo ay sensitivity; next iyong cost and complexities of the supply chain requirements. Isa pang konsiderasyon ay iyong access for clinical trials and regions of local production and distribution, kasama rin ang complexities on the ground preparation and implementation. At panghuli, iyong world supply and demand on vaccines. (The most important is safety, next is efficacy, third is sensitivity, next is cost and complexities of the supply chain requirements. Another consideration is the access for clinical trials and regions of local production and distribution as well as the complexities on the ground preparation and implementation. Lastly, the world supply and demand on vaccines.)”

Secretary Roque assured that all the needed steps are being done by the government so that the vaccine can be immediately distributed to the public once it arrives. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
