PASIG CITY, June 9 — Watch the Manila Concert Choir (MCC), led by Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones, in “Lahi: Kultura, Musika, Atbp.” on June 10, Sunday at 7 pm at the GSIS Theater, Pasay City.

Lahi: Kultura, Musika, Atbp.” is a concert that commemorates the 120th Philippine Independence Day and celebrates the MCC’s 67th anniversary this year. It is an all-Filipino repertoire with superb selection of religious, nationalistic, and folk songs that reflects the Filipinos’ love of God, country, and culture. It showcases songs from the great Filipino composers and arrangers in the two-hour evening of choral music.

Founded in 1951 by Dr. Lois Florendo Bello, a graduate of the Westminster College and a prominent authority on choral music and vocal teaching methods, the MCC has proven its mettle in the world of choral music for 67 years. The MCC holds the distinction of being the first choral group appointed by the President of the Philippines as goodwill ambassadors to the Republic of China in 1961. Through the Cultural Diplomacy Program of the Philippine Embassy in Thailand, the MCC held two successful concerts in Bangkok in 2014. They also performed in three ASEAN meetings during the 2017 ASEAN Summits. Through the years, the choir has rendered more than three hundred full-length free performances and has held choral clinics in principal cities, small towns and barrios all over the Philippines.

The MCC is composed of members from different field of endeavors: doctors, lawyers, teachers, choral directors, pastors, businessmen, engineers, accountants, housewives and students. The choir is currently under the baton of Mr. Glen Cantada and musical accompaniment of Ms. Agape Manigsaca-Labuntog.

The concert is presented by the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), in partnership with DepEd. Admission is free.
