President Rodrigo Duterte has signed the Marawi compensation bill into a law which will give compensation to individuals and establishments affected by the five-month Marawi Siege in 2017.

In the April 27 Palace briefing, Acting Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Martin Andanar sa Republic Act No. 11696 or the Marawi Siege Victims Compensation Act of 2022 will push for the creation of the Marawi Compensation Board.

The said act will help boost the economic status and livelihood of the residents and businesses in the area which will give them a chance to recover from the impact of the five-month long battle. –  ag
