Marcos admin: 1.5-k kms of road, 161 bridges being built, improved

The administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has improved and has begun building some 1,500 kilometers of roads and 161 bridges across the country, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reported Tuesday, March 14.

DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan said in a Palace briefing this covers July to December 2022.

In his report, he said there were also 851 flood control projects .

He said the NLEX-SLEX connector starting from Caloocan to the Skyway Stage III Project of San Miguel Corp, and a segment of the Cavite-Laguna Expressway are ready for inauguration before July. 

Flood mitigation projects in Cagayan de Oro City, some road projects in Mindanao, and the Central Luzon Link Project connecting Tarlac and Cabanatuan City are also being lined up for inauguration.

The DPWH also mentioned several major road projects, including the Samar Pacific Coastal Road and the 32-kilometer bridge that will connect Cavite and Bataan.

Six bridges were also presented for groundbreaking. All of these will be built across the Pasig River.
