President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. commended three Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) officers who were recognized during the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Alumni Homecoming in Baguio City last week.

“I would like to congratulate this year’s awardees for your exemplary performance of your respective duties. Let the exemplary work be emulated and ignite a desire for service in our young cadets. Inspire them once more to become leaders of characters,” Marcos said at the event in Fort Del Pilar.

PCG Commandant Admiral Artemio Abu received the Outstanding Achievement Award for being the PCG’s commandant since March 1 last year.

Deputy Commandant for Operations Vice Admiral Rolando Lizor Punzalan Jr. received the Cavaliers Pandemic Heroes Award for being the Task Force Bayanihan Returning Overseas Filipinos commander.

For his outstanding service, Commodore Tito Alvin Andal was given the Cavalier Award for Coast Guard Operations

Marcos told the officers to remain committed to PCG values.

“Stay true to the ideals and values such as integrity, service before self, and professionalism, that you have gained from the Academy that everyone should innately possess as public servants,” he said.

Ambassador Vidal Querol presented PMA awards with Marcos.

Abu and Punzalan Jr. are members of the 1992 PMA “Tanglaw Diwa” Class, while Andal is a 1994 PMA “Bantay Laya” Class member. -ag
