President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., accepted on Tuesday, June 7, the invitation to attend face-to-face the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit on November 18 to 19 in Thailand.

Marcos Jr. was personally invited by Thai Chargé d’ Affaires Thawat Sumitmo.

The annual summit will be held face-to-face for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2019 summit in Chile was canceled due to protests.

The theme for 2022 APEC is “Open. Connect. Balance.” Established in 1989, this year’s edition aims to “promote sustainable economic growth, trade and investment, and prosperity in the Asia-pacific Region.”

Marcos Jr. recently received courtesy calls from the ambassadors of Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Singapore, Vietnam, and the Chargé d’ Affaires of Thailand. – gb
