Marikina City’s crime rate drops amidst the pandemic

Marikina City’s crime rate has dropped amidst the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Mayor Marcy Teodoro shared that based on reports in the past few days and months, his city’s crime rate has gone down to almost zero. Most of the crimes committed are only violations of the minimum public health standards.

Despite this, Mayor Teodoro assured that the local government is responding to the needs of their residents and helping affected workers and enterprises.

“Sa reconfiguration of their work areas tumutulong tayo. Hindi lang on a technical aspect na nagbibigay tayo sa kanila ng reconsideration plan, tulad halimbawa kung paano mao-observe iyong minimum health standard, iyong paano imi-maintain iyong negative pressure sa isang work area (In the reconfiguration of their work areas, we have helped. It is not only on the technical aspect that we provide a reconsideration plan like how the minimum health standards will be observed, maintaining negative pressure in a work area).” – Report from Mela Lesmoras
