Marikina readies for MECQ implementation

The local government of Marikina is now preparing in case the implementation of modified enhanced community quarantine in the city pushes through.

The local government is aiming to gradually bring back manufacturing and some industrial sectors. Under the MECQ, the opening of car repair shops, barber shops, and small restaurants is being eyed.

Marikina City Mayor Marcy Teodoro is also pushing for the inclusion of those in the shoes and bags industry in the back-to-work sector, but adds that mass testing must first be conducted.

The LGU has been eyeing to strengthen mass testing to fully quell its COVID-19 problem after it was earlier reported that Marikina has recorded the slowest transmission rate in COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila.
