Mayors push for GCQ extension in NCR

Metro Manila mayors are in favor of extending the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) in the region until the end of February.

According to Metro Manila Council President and Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez, this was the consensus of all the mayors of the National Capital Region (NCR). This has been recommended to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).

MMC Pres. Olivarez disclosed that their recommendation aims to prevent the increase of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Metro Manila especially now that the UK Variant has been detected in the country. – PTV News
