The Manila Electric Company (MERALCO) recently advised its customers to be cautious of scam Facebook accounts posing as official Meralco payment channels. The distribution company warned its customers of unscrupulous Facebook accounts posing as Meralco payment channels and emphasized that Meralco does NOT accept any kind of payment through Facebook.

Meralco Spokesperson Joe Zaldarriaga said “for our customers’ safety, protection and welfare, we wish to remind the public to only pay through authorized Meralco payment channels, which are the following: Meralco Online: www.meralco.com.ph , Meralco Mobile App: https://go.onelink.me/Gtm3/bcdbd6f4 and other authorized payment channels: http://bit.ly/WaysToPayMeralco .”

Meralco encouraged the public to stay on high-alert when online, especially when it comes to payment transactions.

Zaldarriaga concluded, “We would also like to inform customers that for any billing inquiries, we invite them to send a message to our Facebook and Twitter pages, or email us at [email protected] for assistance.”
