The vaccination program in Metro Manila’s local government units (LGUs) continues to pick up in its third month of inoculation, with its classification level now at low risk for COVID-19.
In Manila, the city health office has divided lines for first dose and second dose vaccine recipients to avoid longer lines and waiting time.
However, some vaccinees insist on getting jabbed with their second dose without being able to present confirmation codes for their schedule.
“‘Yung iba po ay nagsasabi na may lakad sila bukas, ‘yung iba naman ay gusto na nila ngayon kasi mayroon nang second dose,” vaccination team supervisor Roel De Guzman said.
According to Manila LGU, vaccine recipients must first receive a confirmation text message or a QR code before they are eligible to enter vaccination sites.
More than 17,000 doses of COVID-19 have been deployed to the city, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said.
“Magpabakuna sa lalong madaling panahon. Ano mang brand ng bakuna, ang bakunang mabisa ay ang bakunang nasa braso ninyo,” he added.
On June 21, Manila city government scrapped its “no walk-in” policy at vaccination sites after only 4,402 of 28,000 confirmed individuals showed up at the vaccination sites.
Meanwhile, Pasay City implements a “no walk-in” policy in its vaccination sites.
However, some unregistered individuals from the A4 priority group who go to vaccination sites to get inoculated ‘by chance’ are still being accepted.
According to Pasay City Health Office Medical Officer Dr. Mercedes Noble, the priority is given to those who pre-registered for vaccination.
The Pasay city government is yet to begin vaccination for A5 priority group until the list of vaccinees and scheduling for the said group is finalized.
In San Juan City, Mayor Francis Zamora said on Wednesday (June 23) that 66% or 53,407 residents of the target population have been inoculated with at least the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
According to the local chief, the population protection for San Juan city can be achieved by the end of August if they will be able to inoculate 2,500 to 3,000 individuals per day.
As of June 15, the cities that allow walk-in vaccination in Metro Manila are Caloocan, Manila, Muntinlupa, Navotas, and Pateros. – Report from PTV News / CF-rir
