The OCTA Research Group on Tuesday (Feb. 22) reported that Metro Manila’s positivity rate is now at 4.9% which is less than the World Health Organization’s recommended level of 5%.
OCTA member Dr. Guido David said figures continue to decline in the National Capital Region, but the negative growth rate slightly slowed down.
“Patuloy namang bumababa, at 16 out of 17 LGUs [local government units], base sa metrics namin, ay under low-risk na sa Metro Manila. Iyong buong Metro Manila ay low risk at 4.9% na iyong positivity rate,” he said during the Laging Handa public briefing.
“This is less than 5% na ang recommended ng WHO ay dapat less than 5%… Nandoon na tayo sa recommendation ng WHO,” he added.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila’s average daily attack rate (ADAR) is now at 2.85%.
“Ang ibig sabihin nito ay kapag may 100,000 na tao sa Metro Manila, dalawa nalang doon ang nagkaka-COVID-19 kada araw,” David said.
David added that the research group supports the national and local government’s decision if ever they are to de-escalate Metro Manila to Alert Level 1.
“We support iyong decision ng national and local government. Sila iyong mag-de-decide kung ibababa sa Alert Level 1,” he said. -ag
