Metro Manila ready for alert level system implementation

Metro Manila Council (MMC) chairman Edwin Olivarez on Wednesday (Sept. 15) said Metro Manila is ready for the implementation of the new COVID-19-related alert level system.

“Based doon sa guidelines na binigay ng Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), handang-handa na po ang ating local government units sa Metro Manila para sa ating pilot implementation nitong ating alert level. Ang NCR ay nasa Alert Level 4,” Olivarez said during the Laging Handa public briefing.

“Doon naman sa guidelines na binigay sa atin ay halos the same naman po ‘yan doon sa ating quarantine protocols. Dito po sa guidelines na ito, ay maliwanag po dito na iyon pong alert level 4 [ay] ay magco-concentrate lang tayo sa mga three Cs na may prohibition,” he added.

The three Cs are closed or indoor places, crowded spaces, and close contacts.

According to Olivarez, dine-in restaurants may still open within the new alert level system.

“Pero maganda po rito, mayroong pagbubukas ng ekonomiya at bibigyan po ng mga exemption iyong ating mga dine-in restaurant na ito po ay papayagang mabuksan,” he said.

“Sa pamamagitan ng micro granular lockdown, na magkakaroon ng interpretation ang bawat LGU rito, immediately po tayo magkakaroon ng proactive implementation,” he added.

Meanwhile, Olivarez said the national government will help distribute food packs for areas under granular lockdown,

However, there will be no financial assistance.

“Ang ating national government ay tutulong sa pagbibigay po ng food packs. Wala pong financial. Food packs po ang itutulong ng ating gobyerno,” Olivarez said.

“Doon po sa arrangement na ginawa po sa meeting namin ng MMC, iyon pong 14 days na granular lockdown, iyong seven days, ang magbibigay ng food packs ay iyong LGU. Iyong remaining na seven days ay tutulong at magbibigay po ang ating DSWD ng [food packs]. Wala pong financial assistance.” – jlo
