Mild quake jolts parts of Ilocos Norte, Cagayan

LAOAG CITY — A magnitude 3.6 earthquake rocked parts of Ilocos Norte at 4:12 p.m. Monday, state seismologists said.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the mild quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of two kilometers. Its epicenter was located at 14 kilometers northeast of Pagudpud.

Some Pagudpud voters had to stop shading their official ballots when they felt the ground shaking while raining.

The earthquake was felt at Intensity 3 Claveria, Cagayan, while Intensity 2 was also recorded in Laoag City.

No aftershocks and damage were reported so far.
