Military disposes recovered IEDs from Caraga NPA

The 23rd Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army detonated more than 600 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Buenavista, Agusan del Norte. Police and military authorities recovered the bombs in the rebel-infested areas of Surigao del Sur, which consisted of 105 IEDs, 10 Claymore mines, and 526 nitro explosives. According to Lt. Col. Joey Baybayan, Commanding Officer, 3rd Special Forces Battalion, they opted to do this since the bombs may explode if exposed to heat or chemicals. Lt. Col. Francisco Molina Jr., Commanding Officer, 23rd Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army encourages the public to report to the nearest post of the Philippine Army or police if any explosive or suspicious items are found.
