Militiaman shot dead in Guihulngan City

DUMAGUETE CITY — A member of the Civilian Armed Auxiliary (CAA) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in Sitio Bantayan, Barangay Tacpao, Guihulngan City in Negros Oriental on Sunday.

A police report identified the victim as Rodolfo C. Yucaran, 27 years old, married, of Sitio Maculos, Barangay Bulado of the same city, and assigned at the Binobohan Patrolbase in Barangay Binobohon, Guihulngan City.

Initial police investigation disclosed that Yucaran was shot around 6:30 p.m. Sunday for still unknown reasons.

The Guihulngan police reported that at around 8:40 p.m. Sunday, Melly Relatibo, barangay councilor of Bulado, informed the police station that a shooting incident transpired in the sub-village of Bantayan in the said barangay.

Yucaran was undergoing a refresher training in Lagranja, La Carlota City in Negros Occidental but went home on paternal leave.

A civilian confirmed to the detachment commander in Binobohan that Yucaran had died, the police report said.
