MisOr looking to boost arrivals through new tour packages

Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Vincente Emano said ATOP delegates will be the first to be given an immersion tour to at least 22 tourist areas as a preview of the diverse tourism destinations that Misamis Oriental can offer.

Emano said the province aims to increase tourist visits and generate income for the provincial government.

“This is the first time that the provincial government will introduce package tour for selected tourist destinations in the western and eastern part of the province,” the governor said, referring to the ATOP delegates’ immersion tour.

He said the province will utilize its two newly-acquired 25-seater minibuses for the tour packages that will eventually be offered to domestic and foreign tourists. The tours, he added, will open for business after the ATOP convention later this week.

“Tourism is a very lucrative business and (the) industry (is) setting billions of pesos worth of income for our economy,” Emano added.

Jeffrey Saclot, Provincial Tourism department head, said that the tour packages form part of the province’s effort to attract global attention.
