MM mayors, IATF agree on MGCQ for entire PH

The Metro Manila mayors and the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) have agreed to recommend placing the entire country under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) in March.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, the recommendation aims to remove the special rules for Metro Manila and other areas under GCQ.

President Rodrigo R. Duterte is set to decide on the said recommendation for the new quarantine status next week.

The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) has initially pushed for the shifting of the entire country to MGCQ in order for the country’s economy to recover from the effect of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
