MMDA closes Bonifacio Monument for Independence Day rites

MANILA — The Bonifacio Monument in Caloocan City will be closed to traffic starting 12:01 a.m. of June 12 for the celebration of the 120th Philippine Independence Day, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

The MMDA said in its traffic advisory Monday that heavy traffic is expected within the vicinity of the monument and advised motorists to take the following alternative routes:

Motorists from Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) going to Rizal Avenue should take 8th Street going to C-3 (5th Avenue);

Vehicles from Malabon going to EDSA/Rizal Avenue should turn right on Abbey Road right turn to 10th Avenue;

Motorists from Manila to EDSA/McArthur Highway should turn left at 7th Avenue, 8th Avenue, 9th Avenue then turn left to B. Serrano. (Aerol John Pateña/PNA)
