The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Wednesday, July 12, inaugurated the country’s biggest command center that will serve as the “nerve center of Metro Manila’s major thoroughfares.”
The P300-million new Communication and Command Center (CCC) is set to monitor 404 high-definition closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed across critical and major infrastructure projects in the metro.
The center also incorporates new technologies such as intelligent traffic signalization system, and Hytera radio smart dispatch system with built-in GPS.
In addition, it houses state-of-the-art facilities such as an operations center, data center, situation room, media room, and power room.
According to MMDA acting Chairperson Atty. Don Artes, the MMDA CCC aims to “make Metro Manila a safe and smart metropolis by using smart technologies and data analytics to aid the country into its economic development and strengthened security.”
Meanwhile, the agency laid down its future plans for MMDA CCC, including the installation of 45-kilometer fiber optic cable to be able to integrate CCTVs across all local government units in Metro Manila.
“With these technologies and facilities pooled into our command center, kumpiyansa po akong mas inclusive at tiyak na mas maaasahan ang ating bagong MMDA CCC,” Artes said.
“Lahat po ito ay naka-angkla sa ating sinumpaang tungkulin na magbigay ng epektibo at episyenteng serbisyo publiko tungo sa mas maunlad at mas progresibong Metro Manila,” he added. –cf
