Monsoon rains cause flight cancellations at NAIA

MANILA — Several flights have been cancelled Thursday morning at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) due to heavy rains caused by the southwest monsoon.

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said in its advisory that the following flights are cancelled as of 11 a.m.:

  • DG (CebGo) 6009/6010 Manila-Basco-Manila
  • 2P (PAL Express) 2196/2197 Manila-Laoag-Manila

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its latest weather forecast that heavy rainfall will persist until weekend as the southwest monsoon continues to affect Luzon.

PAGASA said cloudy skies with occasional rains will prevail over the western section of Luzon and Visayas while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the rest of the country. (Aerol John Pateña/PNA)
