The number of Filipinos who support amendments of 1987 Philippine Constitution reached 41%, up by 10-percentage points, according to a poll conducted by Pulse Asia.

The pollster, on Tuesday, March 4, revealed that 44% of Filipino adults admit knowing little about the Constitution and 34% have almost or completely no knowledge about it.

Meanwhile, 45% of survey participants are still against the proposal of changing the Constitution, while 31% of Filipinos do not see the need for charter change now nor at any other time in the future.

The poll, conducted from March 15 to 19, found that most Filipino adults (53% to 76%) are not in favor of seven proposed changes to the Constitution.

The Pulse Asia survey also showed that Filipinos are split regarding the creation of a constitutional convention to change the 1987 Philippine Constitution.

In particular, 34% of Filipino adults agree with the creation of a Constitutional convention, while a contrary opinion is held by nearly the same percentage of the adult population (30%).

Findings on Charter Change from the March 2023 Ulat ng Bayan national survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews of 1,200 representative adults, 18 years old and above. – gb
