The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) reminded public utility bus (PUBs) operators that only “G” and “PG”-rated films and programs are allowed to be shown within the public transport.

A “G” classification means the film or program requires parents or adult supervision.

Meanwhile, under a “PG” or Parental Guidance classification, viewers below 13 years old must be accompanied by a parent or a supervising adult when watching the film or program.

This after the MTRCB held an inspection in bus terminals Tuesday, April 4.

“Ang lahat ng sasakyang pampubliko ay pinahihintulutang magpalabas lamang ng pelikulang may klasipikasyong G at PG,” MTRCB said in an advisory, citing the agency’s Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 2011-004 of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.

“Ang lahat ng mga pampublikong sasakyan at pampublikong lugar na nagpapalabas o nagtatanghal ng mga ‘motion picture’ ay itinuturing na rin na ‘movie theaters,’ dahil ito ay accessible sa lahat,” MTRCB added.

Those who will violate the MC will be fined P2,000 to 5,000 and will face jail sentence from three months to one year.

MTRCB also warned that a cancellation of a franchise is also possible. -ag
