While the holidays and peak season mean increased prices of commodities due to surge of demand, consumers will no longer have to worry about the supply for poultry products and disparity in prices should more industrialized agricultural facilities be constructed nationwide.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said this in response to the perennial concern on skyrocketing prices during the holiday season that was brought up during a media interview in Davao del Sur on Thursday.

“Natural, pagka maganda ang supply hindi tataas masyado ang presyo. Siyempre pag Pasko, may increase talaga ng demand dahil maraming party, maraming nagse-celebrate,” he said.

President Marcos is optimistic that continuous supply of goods, particularly fresh eggs and chicken meat, will prevent excessive price fluctuations.

He said modern agricultural facilities such as the Magnolia poultry farm in Davao Del Sur will ensure a steady supply of food products even during holidays and other peak season.

“Tataas ang demand, (pero) malaki naman ang supply so the supply curve is relatively flat. So, hindi magbabago siguro masyado ang presyo,” he said.

The chief executive is in Hagonoy, Davao Del Sur on Thursday to lead the inauguration of the world-class controlled-climate Magnolia poultry farm of the San Miguel Corporation (SMC).

This poultry farm is expected to include 28 world-class climate-controlled farmhouses to guarantee the best possible conditions for poultry growing and production.

It is projected to produce up to 80 million chickens every year to meet the increasing demand for chicken products in Mindanao and create 1,000 jobs.

Ten other world-class poultry farms will be built by SMC all over the country in the coming months in response to the President’s call for the private sector to help in ensuring food security in the country. PND
