More than 200,000 vehicles are expected to pass through NLEX on Monday, the first day of the general community quarantine in Metro Manila.
According to NLEX Traffic Operations Manager Robin Ignacio, while the number of vehicles has increased at 5:00 a.m., it has not yet reached the NLEX administration’s expected number.
However there has been a slow movement in Balintawak’s Southbound Exit due to the Philippine National Police (PNP)’s checkpoint.
According to the PNP, around 533 cargo trucks and 5,513 private vehicles have passed through the checkpoints as of 11 a.m.
Meanwhile, the NLEX will not yet implement the use of portable collection booths since there are available tellers to avoid the build-up of cars. The NLEX Administration has also guaranteed that their employees have gone through rapid testing and all are cleared of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). – Report from Sandra Samala
