Motorists with RFID stickers now at 3.2M

The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) reported based on its recent data that around 3.2 million motorists have acquired the radio frequency identification (RFID) stickers.

The TRB stated that 800 toll lanes are now ready for the 100% cashless transaction to be implemented starting December 1. Several toll lanes have also been opened Wednesday for the RFID installation.

The Metro Pacific Tollway Corporation (MPTC) has first opened 4 toll lanes in Balintawak for the RFID installation.
According to the MPTC, it has prepared the lanes to prevent heavy flow of traffic at the entryway of the toll plaza. It has also closed the walk-in RFID installation at the customer service to avoid blocking one lane. In addition to this, San Miguel Corporation is set to open 100 RFID installation sites.

Meanwhile, the TRB strictly reminded motorists that the transferring of RFID from one car to another is prohibited. Violators will be fined since only one account is registered for every RFID sticker.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the toll operators informed that the RFID installation will still continue beyond December 1. – Report from Karen Villanda
