Mount Pinatubo still at Alert Level 0 despite phreatic eruption

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on Wednesday (Dec. 1), Mount Pinatubo remains at Alert Level 0 despite the phreatic eruption that occurred on Tuesday (Nov. 30).

In a Phivolcs report yesterday (Nov. 30) afternoon, there was a phreatic eruption in the Pinatubo crater where it let out a volcanic plume.

Phivolcs will continue to monitor the situation.

Meanwhile, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in Region 3 said no residents were affected by the activity of the volcano because no ashfall was reported by Phivolcs.

There were also no tourists nearby when the eruption happened.

Phivolcs advised the public to avoid going near the volcano for the time being. – Report from Patrick de Jesus/PG – bny
