MRT-3 depot under ‘enhanced access control’ over high COVID-19 cases

The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) depot has been placed under “Enhanced Access Control” after 42 of its employees tested positive for the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) including 1 casualty.

The MRT-3 only allows essential personnel of the depot to go to work while others are on a work from home arrangement.

The COVID-19 positive patients were immediately placed under quarantine and contact tracing was conducted.

Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade confirmed that MRT-3 General Manager Rodolfo Garcia is currently in ICU due to COVID-19 while MRT-3 Director Michael Capati is now recovering.

Meanwhile, the DOTr stated that the MRT-3 operations will continue and ensured the implementation of proper health and safety protocols. – Report from Karen Villanda/PTV News
