MANILA – The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT) on Sunday has reached the number of its running trains to 12 as spare parts have started arriving for the railway system.
The MRT-3 has been running on 11 trains since late last week compared to eight to nine running trains last month.
“70 percent of the spare parts procured last December were already delivered,” MRT-3 media relations officer Aly Narvaez said in a text message to the Philippine News Agency (PNA) Monday.
A Special Bids and Awards Committee created by the DOTr has completed the procurement of spare parts last December with a delivery lead time of 30 to 90 days started arriving in February.
Maintenance activities will be conducted from Holy Wednesday, March 28 until Easter Sunday, April 1. The MRT management said it is eyeing to increase the number of running trains to 15 after the Holy Week break. (Aerol John Pateña/PNA)
