MANILA — The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) has lifted the ban on liquid items, which was imposed as part of heightened security measures following recent bombing incidents in the southern part of the country.
In a statement Wednesday, the MRT-3 management said liquids such as bottled water, perfume, hand sanitizer, lotion, rubbing alcohol, among others, that have volume capacity of more than 100 milliliters (ML) may now be brought by passengers inside train stations and coaches.
However, passengers have to test these items by drinking the water, spraying perfume, or using the lotion or rubbing alcohol – in front of MRT security personnel.
The MRT-3 management has earlier allowed liquid items up to 100 ML inside stations.
“We are reminding passengers that they may retrieve confiscated items since the implementation of the liquid ban in our Station Control Room at the station where these were confiscated,” its statement read.
Passengers should only present their identification cards to the station supervisor to retrieve the said items.
Confiscated liquid items that were not claimed within 14 days shall be disposed of.
For its part, the management of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) said it would continue implementing its ban on bottled water and other drinks.
Liquids such as breastmilk bags, feeding bottles, medicines, alcohol and perfume are allowed inside stations and train coaches, as long as these have undergone security inspection.
