MRT, LRT, PNR offer free rides on Independence Day

MANILA — Major railway systems will be offering rides to passengers on Tuesday, June 12, in celebration of the 120th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine Independence.

In separate announcements, the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) and Light Rail Transit (LRT) Lines 1 and 2 will provide free rides to all passengers from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Passengers will be directed to the automated fare collection system gates where they may use either single journey tickets or stored value cards without charge to their existing purse loads.

For its part, the Philippine National Railways will provide free rides from Tutuban to Alabang that are scheduled on Tuesday morning at 7:07 a.m. and 7:37 a.m. and in the evening trip at 6:07 p.m. Free trips will also be provided from Tutuban to Calamba scheduled at 6:37 p.m.

Northbound trips from Alabang to Tutuban are free on the following times: 7:30 a.m., 8 a.m., 6 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. (Aerol John Pateña/PNA)
