Musical showcasing Tagbilaran heritage set to end Nat’l Arts Month

TAGBILARAN CITY — In an effort to educate the younger generations, this city’s culture and arts council is planning to stage a musical as the culminating program for the National Arts Month (NAM) celebration on February 28.

The working title of the musical is “Tagbila-an” and will be directed by University of the Philippines theater actor Ralph Reyes, while the musical scoring will be done by Noel dela Rosa.

It will showcase the heritage of Tagbilaran and will be starred in by students from the local high school.

A statement from the City Media Bureau on Thursday said that City Events, Culture and Arts officer Joseph Alexis Cadelina was tasked to produce a musical aimed to instill pride among Tagbilaranons for the city.

“Tagbila-an” the musical will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary in barangay Taloto.

The statement from the City Media Bureau said the musical hopes to embody the rich history and culture of the city.

Tagbila-an is the city’s old name which means hiding place.
