MWSS to implement FCDA in Jan 2021

The Metropolitan Water Sewerage System (MWSS) will implement a Foreign Currency Differential Adjustment (FCDA) that will cause a lower rate for water charges in January 2021.

The FCDA is a mechanism to correct the increase and decrease in the exchange rate of the Philippine Peso and US Dollar that affects the water charges of the consumer. Since the PH Peso has been stronger against the USD, the charge of water concessionaire Maynilad will deduct a Php 0.05 per cubic meter. This will also be deducted from the bills of customers who consume 10 cubic meters and below per month.

A reduction of Php 0.64 will also be implemented for consumers of 20 cubic meters and Php 1.30 for those who consume 30 cubic meters per month.

Meanwhile, the FCDA of Manila Water will be Php 0.14 less per cubic meters. A reduction of Php 0.76 will be implemented for those who consume 10 cubic meters per month, Php 1.69 for consumers of 20 cubic meters, and Php 3.54 for consumers of 30 cubic meters per month.

In relation with this the MWSS vowed to strictly monitor the implementation of water service interruptions to ensure that consumers have ample supply of water. – Report from Cleizl Pardilla
