NCCA launches digital art contest

In celebration of the 2020 Year of ASEAN Identity, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) calls on Filipino citizens (age 18 and above) to submit original creative outputs inspired by the theme Imaging ASEAN Amid COVID-19.

The contest aims to showcase the best expressions in digital art by Philippine amateur and professional artists while highlighting the cultural uniqueness and identity being shared by the whole ASEAN community, not just on the local or national level.

The prescribed categories in relation to the context/meaning of the digital art output reflecting the challenges and/or opportunities in the whole of the ASEAN region in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic are as follows:

  • ASEAN community concerns (political, economic, socio-cultural)
  • Health care concerns (ASEAN region in scope)
  • Art concerns (ASEAN region art markets, materials and production, exhibitions, motivations, etc.)
  • Personal concerns (self, family, and community as part of the whole ASEAN region)

The process of the contest will be done online, from submission of entries to the selection and announcement of winners.

All entries must be created with digital technology and presented in various formats of stand-alone digital art image such as, but not limited to: graphic poster, web comic, fractal/algorithmic art, data-moshing, dynamic painting, 2D and 3D computer graphics, pixel art, digital photography, photo-painting, manual vector drawing, integrated art/mixed media and hybrid painting, raster painting and computer-generated painting.
