MANILA — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and the Ayala Foundation Group of Companies on Friday signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the implementation of #PulisMagiting program that will recognize police officers’ noteworthy deeds and accomplishments beyond their mandated tasks.
NCRPO Director, Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said the program is a testament to the goodness of police personnel not only as a professional servant but more importantly as a human being.
“‘Pulis Magiting’ is a program that will constantly monitor, search and award policemen who do outstanding and touching acts by way of serving the people. These awards and rewards will be given to deserving policemen by the Ayala Foundation on a regular basis,” Eleazar told reporters after the MOA signing at the Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City.
Eleazar signed the MOA on behalf of the NCRPO while Ayala Foundation was represented by its president Raul Maranan.
Eleazar said his management policy as NCRPO chief comes from Philippine National Police chief, Gen. Oscar Albayalde to “reward the good, but punish the bad.”
“Contrary to the public perception that most of the police officers now are all scalawags and contrary to your perception that my job is just to get mad at these bad eggs in the police force, I think there’s something wrong with these perceptions,” he said.
“I have awarded and given recognition in the form of medals, certificates of citation and plaques to more than 250,000 of our deserving personnel, all in line with our policy of rewarding the good. I am very proud to report this,” he noted.
He also thanked Ayala Foundation for initiating the program that recognizes police officers.
Meanwhile, Maranan said they will continue to support the program as the PNP provides safety and security to the public.
He said they believe that everybody should cooperate and be part to be part of the solution to the problems confronting society.
The first recipient of the Pulis Magiting award was Police Cpl. Claro Fornis of the Makati Police Community Precinct (PCP) 1, who acted as guardian to Angela Perez, a student of General Pio Del Pilar National High School for her to enroll in school.
Both of her parents are in jail for a drug case.
