NCRPO says inmates, staff contracted COVID-19 from visitors

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Chief Police Maj. Gen. Vicente Danao confirmed 5 COVID positive inmates at the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Station 5 in Fairview, while 89 inmates in the custodial facility contracted COVID-19.

Some 21 QCPD Station 5 staff also contracted COVID-19.

Danao suspects that inmates got the virus from outsiders or visitors, prompting them to limit the visitors in their lock-up cells to contain the virus.

“Mayroon naman tayong mga ini-augment na tao. Lahat ng district ngayon, nag-additional tayo ng mga personnel and mayroon tayong mga ipinadalang coming from the RMFB (Regional Mobile Force Battalion) to include our reserve,” Danao told PTV.

Meanwhile, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police Gen. Guillermo Eleazar reminded the cops to take extra precautionary measures for COVID-19 after detecting three Delta variant cases among members of the police force. – Report from PTV News / CF – rir
