NDRRMC braces for #VintaPH

MANILA — Even as it mobilizes resources needed to deal with the damage caused by “Urduja”, the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) has convened an emergency response preparedness (ERP) following the expected landfall of tropical storm “Vinta” Thursday or Friday.

The NDRRM Operations Center remains on red alert status for continuous monitoring of the effects of “Urduja” and in preparation for the effects of “Vinta”, NDRRMC spokesperson Mina Marasigan said.

She added the National Council will continue to disseminate warnings and advisories to its regional and local DRRM councils.

The Department of Interior and Local Government has alerted the local government units concerned to take the necessary preparations and conduct pre-emptive evacuation if necessary.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development also ensured the availability of funds as well as the prepositioned family food packs.

The public is advised to monitor the cancellation of bus operations due to bad weather. Travellers are also advised to monitor advisories of bus companies and sea ports, especially on the possible cancellation of trips, to avoid the influx of passengers.

The public is also encouraged to stay vigilant and alert despite the festivity of the holiday season, monitor and share reliable weather updates and advisories, and heed the call of local government officials for pre-emptive evacuation. (Priam Nepomuceno/PNA)
